- Take a long shower or bubble bath
Whether you like a nice shower or calming bubble bath, either one will help ease your mind and body. Wash your hair too with a peaceful sent to increase your relaxation even further. The feeling of being clean can help increase morale and provide a boost of energy.
Try and stay away from junk food. It’s not only bad for your body, it’s bad for the mind too. Try going with a piece of fruit or a smoothie of some sort. Although you might not be craving it, you’ll feel amazing after you eat something healthy. These healthy type snacks will give you the strength you need to take charge of your day.
When you workout, your body releases endorphins, which makes you feel happy. It’s your body’s natural happy-pill. You’ll feel positive and it also helps our bodies perception of pain. Studies show that in just 7 minutes of exercise, we will began to feel the benefits. If you aren’t a fan of the gym, try taking a brisk walk around the neighborhood or even going on a bike ride. Any activity is good for the soul. Keep moving.
If you are sitting in the same environment for too long, it’s time to get out and do something. 3 days of the same place, is 3 days too much. Whether you’re working from home or babysitting kids, try changing up the atmosphere. Take your laptop to a park or the beach, perhaps even a coffee shop. If you are with kids, get out of the house and enjoy playing catch or swinging at the park. Experts say you need to take a break every 15 mins, it will help increase your focus and productivity.
- Quality time with friends and family
Always make an effort to spend time with your friends and loved ones. It’s easy to get caught up with work or family-life, but put forth the effort. Whether it’s a movie, dinner, or a coffee date, quality time is important. As we grow older, it gets harder and harder to see our family and friends. It’s important that we keep a good balance in our lives. Spending time with the people we love with increase our happiness. Start making plans.
It’s important to show a sense gratitude and thankfulness to the people around us. Saying thank you has been linked to happiness in people. People who are thankful for what they have and the people in their lives are never looking for something better. They appreciate the blessings they have. Start thanking your waitress or office maid. Making people feel appreciated will make you feel appreciated in return. Also, don’t forget to thank the people closest to you. Your spouse, kids, parents, should always feel appreciated. Being in a state of gratefulness leads to a better life.
Start giving out hugs. It can be your spouse, kids, parents, or friends. Maybe even your pet. Human affection is the best cure for loneliness and grief. It’s nice to give hugs and be hugged back. You will feel instantly better. Don’t just hug someone when they are sad, hug them when they are happy too. Hugging your pet, especially cats, will help lower your stress and calm your body.
Volunteering your time will make you feel happy about yourself. Check out local charities and organizations and see how you can help. If there isn’t anything in your community, reach out to a friend or family member in need. It can be as easy as making someone who’s sick dinner or helping babysit a busy friend’s kids.
Have you checked out your city sites? Become a tourist in your own town and see all the hidden sites. Whether it be a new restaurant or museum, go check it out. If you don’t feel like spending money, go walk around a new area of town you’ve never seen or check out free exhibits in the area. The exercise is a bonus.
Are you sleeping 8 hours per night? If the answer is no, that might be the issue if you are feeling depressed or lazy. The average adult needs at least 7 hours of solid sleep to functional properly in terms of emotions and physical wellbeing. For tonight, remove the distractions (yes, your cellphone and ipad), change the sheets, play white noise or relaxing music, drink some warm milk or sleepy time tea, and have a good night’s rest.
