Father and son duo, Tian Jun and Tian Li, have been taking the exact same photo of themselves together for 28 years now.  Born in 1986, Tian Li’s father posed with his newborn son outside their home in China’s southwestern Guizhou Province.  The single photo began a long ongoing series of the same black and white photo taken of the pair every year on Tian Li’s birthday.  In effort to document his growing son each year, Jun also hoped to capture the unbreakable bond between he and his son throughout the years.

Other than Li’s 6th birthday, when the father and son made a trip to the beach, the annual photo was captured up against the same wall, with Jun carrying his son up until the age of 12.  In following years, Li stood by his father’s side (rather than being carried), whether in that same spot outside their home or in front of the Beijing Film Academy, where Li was admitted when he was 18 years old.

The photos went viral when Jun posted the series of images on social media last year, touching the hearts of viewers all over the world.  Unfortunately, one photo was missed on Li’s birthday in 2014, as he was in the United States witnessing the birth of his first-born son (good reason).  The final image you won’t want to miss, as it captures an extremely touching moment between 3 generations.
